Counter Strike Guide 1.6 By Vesslan

Assalamualaikum, I got this from the old Vesslan guide from EuphNet.

First things first this will be a small sermon concerning Gunskills.

1. This is a basic skill, but only 1 of several dozen skills needed to compete at the highest levels. If you pick up even a few skills you'll already be a dominant player in the public servers (if you already aren't) or perhaps this will improve your game. Some of you might not need this. Some of you should read this
* at the highest levels of competition wherever your at, everyone has good guns, what you have to do after is where it gets hard

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gunskill - the ability to take down a enemy with the least amount of bullets and doing it as efficiently as possible so that you can target the next opponent. ( applies to attacking or defending )

[ Rifles ]

* one thing that I always stress is that you must always land your first shot. It's my FIRSTSHOT rule.

This rule dictates that if you're always ready and you fire first that you should always kill your enemy. You have 1 extra bullet ahead of them and that is all you should need to eliminate your opponent - should result in stopping them so that the next 2-3 bullets kill him, or should be a headshot.

Regardless of wether or not you are running and coming around the corner that crosshair should be ready at all times for anything to pop out. And the FRACTION of a second that you see him, you should already be firing and watching him die before your next step. Always being ready and playing like the enemy is around every single corner and ready and waiting at every angle and possibility will make you stronger. One being you will never be surprised nor ambushed. Two you will not hesitate to fire on the enemy. Three I said so.

* A famous boxer's motto was always "Beat them to the Punch". Therefore you dictate the fight and can end it quickly. -> FIRSTSHOT
Another example is where you are planted in a position aiming at a direction and waiting ( regardless of T or CT ) as soon as you see ANYTHING you should be REACTING (reacting quickly is a skill). IE the minute I see a gun pop out I'm already firing based upon where I believe they are , or will be. BANG - dead. This ability is not easy and it just takes time to train it up. Tho you should react instinctively and like a MACHINE. Aim Fire, Aim Fire , Aim Fire. AIM____________________________ Fire!

Spraying tho is acceptable at close ranges so long as you have a steady hand and after the 3rd-4th bullet drop your crosshair down a foot. After 6th-8th , down to their feet.

One way to gauge or learn of a gun's ability and recoil is fire at a wall. Try varying tempo, distance, movement or non movement, standing or ducking. Try spraying and watching where the bullets hit on the wall. Try up close, try a few feet away, try further, and further.., and further. Get a feel for your guns and their capabilities.

Another way to work on your guns is to do various aim_maps. Regardless of the size of the map a good rifler always has a chance to work on his aim and ability to dispatch the enemy quickly and efficiently.

- aim_map , ak-colt aim map , awp map (yes rifle practice is good here too at times , play rifles and try to kill the awpers), aim_arena

When you know your good you'll be playing where after about the 3rd-4th bullet your already switching to another target and firing, and the next. and the next.. and the next.

Another way to work on your aim is thru bots, currently the only bot i'd recommend is the akimbot since it isn't too much trouble to install. Plus it works for me where realbot went buggy.

I just load as many bots as possible, use the
Quote:
botdontshoot
command and just practice my aim trying to dispatch every bot as quickly as possible and working on making it so I'm hitting headshots on a consistent basis.

I used to go and kill 4-500 bots to warmup before playing in a scrim (5v5) or public server.

*Always challenge yourself, never let yourself get to the point where you say I'm the best I pwn j00 and r0x0red your mom last night. That's when you stop improving and the next guy passes you by.

[There is always room for improvement]

ie - don't hit enough headshots, don't kill at least 5 guys with 1 clip, aren't able to fire on the run and do it accurately, ain't able to reflexively kill the 1st guy I see (as i pop out , ANYWHERE)

Bots or Aim_Maps both are nice. euphNET Pub #3 has been a dedicated aim_map server for over a year now. Check it out and see if you can average 60-70 kills constant  in 15 minutes.

1. If you aren't able to run out and kill at least 1 guy (any situation) then you have something to work on.

2. If you aren't able to sit down and watch a spot and kill the first thing that pops out then you have something to work on.

3. If you can't kill a guy with his back turned to you , or running past you ( regardless of distance ) then you have something to work on.

----

A minor way to work on aim is to stand in position and fire at different locations. IE de_inferno - terrorist. I spawn buy up and stand at fire at cracks in the wall. At the corners of the boxes and the center. As quickly as possible bursting and rotating to the next spot I choose to fire. Seeing how accurate I am at hitting those spots.

-- Then I strafe left and right and fire at spots I randomly select in quick succession, Fire 1-4 , next target , Fire 1-4 *DO THIS QUICKLY - minimum recovery time for recoil*

--- Next I might squat and repeat. When choosing wether to watch the crosshair or the actual bullets, Watch the bullets and react to where they are going.

------------------

Desire improving your rifle sensitivity..?
* do not do this if your not up to learning a new sensitivity takes 1-4 weeks.

Start with sensitivity 1, can you accurately run around and hit anything? Not even by a close margin? Boost to sensitivity 2. What about now? Is your fire behind the target and just not able to reach them? Try 3! And so on.. ( note I recommend using whatever your already comfortable with ) some players tweak their settings some just stick to whatever they do well with and just try to improve on that. Generally I do this to find my best setting and then stick with it and work on it. After you find it you shouldn't need to change it til maybe the next version where you might desire a change.

Furthermore you can go into greater detail by going 3.1 3.2 3.3 or 1.2 1.3 1.4. -> EXAMPLES of editing your sensitivity at the DECIMAL LEVEL.

so instead of raising or lowering your sensitivity by single digits, you can tweak at the decimal level. Just a littttlee bit more sensitivity + .1 , just a little bit more +.2 , or hmm just a tad less -.3 .

Do this at your own risk!

* all about being comfortable with your guns and feeling your shots.

Always challenge yourself to be better!

AK47 & COLT STRATEGY GUIDE

A lot of people requested some input on how to handle the AK47 and the Colt rifles more effectively. I have two words to say about these weapons: recoil control! That is the most important task, and I will try to show you some tricks of how to be able to control the recoil more effectively.

I have recorded a demo, but you must note that this demo is for educational purposes only. The demo will show you how to practice recoil control and burst control, as well as information on when to use what.

Single Shot, Burst Shot, 2-5 Shots, and Spray

First off, I will state the difference between the following subjects: single shot, burst shot, 2-5 shots and spray.

The single shot is a technique that I use in only one situation, and it is quite complicated unless you are good with the rifles. There are times when a good player makes a nice burst of 2-5 shots with the AK47, but starts to lose control of the crosshair and recoil. A good player could single burst to finish the enemy off, effectively. You can watch the demo to get a better understanding of this concept.

When using the AK47 I burst a different amount of bullets depending on the distance between me and the enemy. Anything between two shots (when the enemy is really far away, while he’s moving) to 3-5 shots when the enemy is at medium range. You can also try to end the burst by performing single bursts towards the lower health points of the enemy. Note that this technique is better used if you crouch. It is possible to perform if you stand up, but the bullets become very random this way. If you do this while you strafe, remember to make pauses and stand quite still for just a very short moment when you make the vital bursts.

The technique for being able to hit with a lot of bullets is quite simple if you know how to. For example if you use normal settings, not invert mouse, then you should pull the mouse backwards/towards yourself and make the crosshair expand so it's in a "zero mode" what I mean with that is that the crosshair won't move more than outwards/expanding but all bullets will go straight, if you dont pull the mouse towards yourself the recoil/weapon will bounce up.

The opposite goes for those who use Invert mouse, push the mouse slightly forward at the same time as you shoot. The more bullets you intend to shoot the more you have to move the mouse back/forth. This is of course what is called recoil control.

Frames Per Second

A lot of people think that the amount of frames per second is important for the rifles, but personally, I don’t think it is. My computer consists of an Intel Pentium IV 1.4 GHz, with an NVIDIA GeForce 4 Ti 4600. Unfortunately it cannot provide me with the proper frames that I would really like so I am stuck with frames of above 50 in heavy battles. It is all about being able to hit with the bullets rather than having a crosshair that shrinks as fast as it can with 100 frames per second.

I compete at a lot at tournaments, so practicing with a low frame count has some advantages. Since the bullets still go straight with a larger crosshair, I am forced to hit fast and hard early up in battles. So, when I play with high frame counts, I am more exact with my aim while players that are used to high frame counts also are used to being able to adjust after they miss in the beginning. Some people want the same conditions at home and at tournaments, so they buy powerful computers, but the statement above is my personal opinion.

If you spray, you will want a high frame count, because the more frames per second you got, the better will your spray and recoil control become. There are still a few small tricks to learn when spraying wildly.

Spraying: Colt

The colt is really nice to spray with, as most people probably know. The demo I have recorded is showing me, sitting on the catwalk on de_nuke, trying to drag spray the colt. I practise the spray on multiple targets without letting the fire button go. If you look closely, you can see that the bullets actually follow the upper bracket of the crosshair.

Another trick you can find useful while spraying is to avoid looking at the crosshair while spraying and try to follow the pattern of the bullets, such as where they hit and where they are heading. What works for me is that, when I know that I will be in a lot of close combat action, I use the yellow crosshair color so that I will not see the crosshair as much as I would with a green crosshair. This way, I can focus on the bullets instead of the crosshair.

Another question that usually comes up is: silencer or no silencer? This, to me, is a personal preference. I prefer spraying without the silencer. I like the sound more and it DOES make more damage. I usually use silencer when I am in a hideout position, trying to surprise my opponents, etcetera. Using it when you fire through walls is also great, because the enemy won’t hear where the bullets are being ejected from. In the demo I show some good silencer positions for de_nuke.

Spraying: AK47

Spraying with the AK47 is really hard, but there is a minor trick that you can try if you like to. Try pulling the mouse diagonally to the lower left, since the recoil tends to go up to the upper right. You should definitely sit down when you spray. This way, it will be easier to control the recoil.

I just shared this tiny guide he wrote on rifles but there is also his demo which demonstrates the usage of the rifle which you can get by accessing the guide links thru [www.gamers.nu] as I listed above.

Click on > Go To AK47 & Colt Strategy Demo - Below the guide to DL it - You will need to have a working copy of CS1.5 to watch this demoguide.

Another thing to do is record a 10-15 minute demo of yourself playing and then watch yourself and review how you are shooting, are you reacting fast enough? are you firing accurately? are you accurate but aiming below the head so instead of getting headshots your hitting body?

If your aiming at the chest 4-5 round sprays are fine, tho if you tried more then 4 at the head the bullets afterwards would hit above targets head.

Or go to my old 1.5 demos kinein (frank) , wicked triggers (morris) 1.5 demos ARCHIVED AT euphNET and find the ones where we rifle.

1.3 gigabytes of demos in just my folder alone !

The only one I can remember from the top of my head would be the efekz match on aztec when I was terrorist [ must watch ].

Or the sexy clan match on de_inferno ( when I was CT )

---

By the way bodyshot gunners are effective but also need to work on being able to drag their fire into enemy heads. As you see where your firing you should by the 4th bullet raise your crosshair up to their heads.

Accurate Headshot gunners tho > bodyshot gunners

1 bullet to the dome > 4-5 bullets to the chest
